Ladies gather in York for coffee, chat and friendship

On Saturday a group of women gathered for the first time in an unusual setting. Amongst the train engines at the National Railway Museum, 20 ladies could be found bonding over coffee and cake. Their ages varied from mid 30s to early 70s and all were there for one reason - to make new friends.

The women came from all walks of life.  Some were new to the city of York and looking to meet new people. Some were retired, some single,  some were married but looking for female friends to meet for coffee, glasses of wine or trips to the cinema.

Some of the women worked for themselves so were lacking the social interaction you usually find at work. Others wanted to develop friendships outside of the workplace.

Whatever the reason, it was a pleasure to see a group of women so enthusiastic about meeting new people and everyone was soon chatting away. Even though the women had only just met, they were keen to set up more events in the future with support for regular coffees and meals out.

Whenever I have  met togetherfriends ladies I have been delighted by their determination to enjoy life, whatever their circumstances.  If togetherfriends can help women do this by linking them up with others like themselves, it can only be a good thing.

Saturdays coffee is now a regular event and I'm happy to help set up and publicise similar meet ups in other areas, get in touch by emailing me [email protected] if you have some ideas.
