The yearly friendship trip...to Paris

Every year I take a little trip away with Megan, a friend I've had since primary school.  We've had many adventures together over the years; drinking cider as teenagers, working in a hotel in France after A levels, sharing a home in London in our 20s and, since having our own families,  meeting up once a year for a catchup.  We've been all over the UK -  to Liverpool, London, Lincoln and Bath but this year it was an extra special treat, taking the Eurostar train to Paris.

Paris was just as I remembered.  Elegant and so cool.  The city oozes charm and sophistication.  And Eurostar was such a treat too, taking you right into the centre of Paris with hardly any hassle.   My friend and I talked for 4 days.  We walked and  walked, looking at many of the beautiful sights and buildings - Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, the Musee D'Orsay with wonderful art, and we floated down the Seine taking it all in.   And we ate. Croissants, croque monsieur, boeuf bourguignon, tarte tartin were just a few of our treats, all delicious and usually finished off with a kir and a bottle of wine. It was a brill trip and one to recommend with friends or family. There is nothing better than a break away from everyday life with a friend.  A chance to recharge your batteries and enjoy a special experience with people you are close to.  My friend and I are now empynesters, so are enjoying the opportunity to plan more trips. Where to next year?  The worlds our oyster!
